Stopping and Starting Your Project

Last Updated: Apr 19, 2017 10:19AM EDT

Sometimes an application needs to be restarted or taken offline. Xervo supports the full range of lifecycle commands to get this done: stop, start, and restart.

Commands can be found on the project dashboard by clicking the status in the top-right corner. The CLI can also be used to start, stop, and restart projects.

Restarting a project stops the process and restarts it. Any new environment variables will be applied when the application restarts.

$ xervo project restart

Stopping a project takes the application offline. Stopped projects do not accrue any Servo charges. Database and cloud storage costs are still applied for stopped projects.

$ xervo project stop

Starting a stopped project is very similar to a deploy. The application code is distributed to each Servo, npm installed, and the process started. Starting a stopped process will typically take longer than restarting.

$ xervo project start
