Specifying a Target Project

Last Updated: Apr 19, 2017 10:36AM EDT

There are three ways to specify a project when using the CLI: choose a project from a list of your projects, include the project name using the --project-name (-p) option, or by using the "mod-project-name" property in your package.json file.

Potentially destructive commands like stop and restart will always require the project to be specified. In these cases automatic selection using the package.json file will be disabled.

Prompt

When using a command such as deploy without specifying a project to use, you will be prompted to select from your existing projects. If you only have one project, you will be prompted to verify the use of that project.

Example with only a single project:

$ xervo deploy
Welcome to Xervo
You are logged in as spiderman
[?] Are you sure you want to use project Lizard Locator? (yes) yes
2.9 KB written
Uploading project...
Upload progress [===================] 100%
Deploying Project...
...
[√] Lizard Locator running at lizard-locator-895.app.xervo.io

Example with multiple projects:

$ xervo deploy
Welcome to Xervo
You are logged in as spiderman
Please choose which project to use:
  1) Lizard Locator
  2) Daily Bugle
[?] project 1
2.9 KB written
Uploading project...
Upload progress [===================] 100%
Deploying Project...
...
[√] Lizard Locator running at lizard-locator-895.app.xervo.io

Project-Name Option

Specify which project to use with the --project-name (-p) option.

$ xervo deploy -p "Lizard Locator"
Welcome to Xervo
You are logged in as spiderman
Compressing project...
2.9 KB written
Uploading project...
Upload progress [===================] 100%
Deploying Project...
...
[√] Lizard Locator running at lizard-locator-895.app.xervo.io

Package.json

Specify your project automatically using the "mod-project-name" property in your package.json. Note that commands such as stop and restart still require a project to be selected.

In package.json:

{
  "name": "lizard-locator",
  "mod-project-name": "Lizard Locator",
  "version": "0.0.0"
}

In the CLI:

$ xervo deploy
Welcome to Xervo
You are logged in as spiderman
Found mod-project-name 'Lizard Locator' in package.json
