Cloudflare Configuration with Meteor XHR polling

Last Updated: May 05, 2016 09:45AM EDT
Meteor applications, by default, will use XHR polling (or long polling). Normally, this is perfectly fine; however, if you are using Cloudflare, there are some options that will interfere with your XHR polling.

To get Cloudflare working with your Meteor application, there are two settings that need to be updated.

Disable Cloudflare acceleration
In the DNS settings for your domain, click the cloud icon to disable acceleration.

Pseudo IPv4
Pseudo IPv4 is turned off by default. The Pseudo IPv4 setting needs to be set to "Overwrite Headers" to ensure that the IPv6 header doesn't interfere with the XHR requests.
